Recommended Vets

We are constantly asked by our clients to recommend a "Good Vet". Unfortunately this is not an easy task. After being in this industry for many years we have just about heard and seen every horror story you can imagine. We have put together this section for our happy clients to recommend their vets to help everyone. Please send in your vets name and clinic he/she attends and we will place this up on our website.

Some things to remember when attending your vet clinic:

1. Where does everyone take their sick dogs? In saying this we do not recommend our puppies to attend puppy school at a vet clinic.

2. When attending your vet clinic do not put your puppy on the ground. Please hold him in your arms and make sure the examination table is cleaned before placing your puppy on the table.

3. Shop around for quotes as the same consultation/surgery procedure can vary largely in cost.

4. With older dogs please have a standard blood test every year.

5. If your dog is having an operation it is advisable to have the vet do a sample test the week before to make sure your dog does not have an allergic reaction to the anaesthetic.

This is extremely important as we are hearing many disturbing stories of dogs dying under anaesthetic.

6. Please ask your vet for pre sterilised, pre packaged suture material to be used in your surgical procedure. This will cut down the risk of infection.

7. Please do not be afraid to ask for some pain relief for your dog. Most vet's will use something like Metacam etc. This really does help your dog after surgery and is well worth paying a little extra to make your dog comfortable.

8. Always have your surgical procedure costs put in writing so at the end of the day you know what the total amount is you have to pay.

9. At the end of the day, you own your animal. If you are not happy with your vet's diagnosis please shop around for a second opinion. After all, you are the owner of your pet and you need to insure you are doing the best you can and are satisfied with whatever choice you make.

10. Please remember your Pet Insurance.
